Jack MacPhail

Founder and Principal


Jack MacPhail is a senior executive advisor with extensive global experience at the executive level. He possesses a unique ability to identify and solve human-related business challenges at senior levels. He’s recognized for delivering unfiltered honesty with tact and aplomb. With more than 40 years of professional, military and athletic experience both “doing” and “consulting”, Jack has the ability to integrate multiple perspectives, commercial acumen and global knowledge in addressing difficult challenges at the senior-most level. He’s developed a particular expertise in working with individual contributors (and their teams) being considered for senior level leadership positions. Before forming Jack MacPhail LLC in New York City, he enjoyed a diverse career. Beginning with years of high school and college hockey, to service with US Army Counterintelligence and Special Forces, to successful careers with JP Morgan Chase, Senn Delaney Consulting and Korn Ferry International,  Jack has honed his interpersonal and team-based skills.

Most recently Jack served as a member of the management team and Ombudsman for the Authentic Leadership Institute, out of Harvard, Massachusetts. Over the five preceding years at Korn Ferry, he and his colleagues institutionalized the leadership business as a key component of Korn Ferry’s talent management strategy. At Senn Delaney Consulting, he rose to Executive Vice President and member of the management committee.

Upon graduating business school at Cornell, Jack started his professional career with the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. During 24 years at Chase, he held both global line and staff positions in the US, Europe and Asia. He concluded his career there as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Global Corporate Bank.

Jack is a graduate of Nichols College with a BA in marketing, and of the Johnson School of Business at Cornell with a Masters in Public Administration. His other experiences have included serving with the US Army’s 5th Special Forces Group during the Vietnam conflict, and on Kibbutz Ashdot Yaacov Ichud in Israel. He resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Sandy.
